Arkan lyrics & translation (Macross Zero)
Apr. 14th, 2018 05:41 pmCan it be? Am I really translating lyrics instead of just color-coding them? It's a Christmas miracle! (no seriously they're closing all the roads and the plows are going home and all I can see outside is white) I don't know French or fictional languages so this translation is actually based off the official Japanese translation. It could be that these things are not identical in meaning, although from what I can understand of the French from individual words which are similar to English words, it seems unlikely to be significantly different. I also don't have the unwritten lyrics for this song (which definitely exist) because I find Holy Raz to be incomprehensibly indistinct even when her voice is front, center, and focus.
P.S. Macross Zero is the best Macross and you all suck for saying it sucks.
Arkan
Composed by Kuniaki Haishima
Performed by Holy Raz
ARKAN, ARKAN
ARKAN, ARKAN

ARKAN, ARKAN
ARKAN, ARKAN
Dans le calme du soir
In the quiet of the night
In the quiet of the night
L'eve les yeux afin de voir
open your eyes to see
And a note now that we're here. Arkan is Mayan for "star," Ohra is apparently Mayan for "light," Mayan is Mayan for Mayan, Sura could be anything and the Japanese lyrics didn't translate it (BUT GUESS WHAT IT'S A WORD USED IN NEO RANGA'S STORY, CONVENIENTLY SOMETHING KUNIAKI HAISHIMA WORKED ON PREVIOUSLY) and they were apparently wrong in the last line because they say Sura Mayan again even though the French lyrics differ and she clearly is not saying the same thing. I also corrected a bunch of the French lyrics (thanks google) because they didn't like the diacritics. It turns out this whole thing was useless after all.
open your eyes to see
Apparaître et scintiller
all the stars
all the stars
Toutes les étoiles
appearing and shining
appearing and shining
Dans leur repos brille Arkan!
In the serenity, the shining stars
In the serenity, the shining stars
Illumine la terre soura mayan
illuminate the Earth, Sura Mayan
illuminate the Earth, Sura Mayan
Ainsi la mer reflete Ohra
The sea reflects the light,
Qui s'élève vers l'infini soura-misone
going towards eternity, Sura-misone
The sea reflects the light,
Qui s'élève vers l'infini soura-misone
going towards eternity, Sura-misone
